HOJO uses cookies to:

We do not use cookies for targeted advertising or share cookie data with advertisers.

Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies are essential for the platform to function. Without them, services you have requested — such as staying logged in or submitting a listing — cannot be provided. These cookies cannot be disabled.

• Session cookie: Maintains your login state while you browse the platform.
• CSRF token: Protects your account against cross-site request forgery attacks.
• Security cookie: Detects and mitigates fraudulent activity.

Preference cookies

These cookies remember choices you make to personalize your experience. Disabling them may cause some features to stop working correctly.

• Theme preference: Stores your selected light or dark mode setting.
• Filter state: Remembers your last search filters and category selection.

Analytics cookies

These cookies help us understand how visitors interact with the platform by collecting anonymized, aggregated data. No personally identifiable information is collected or shared.

• Page view tracking: Which pages are visited and in what order.
• Feature usage: Which search filters, categories, and actions are used most.
• Error reporting: Technical errors encountered during your session.

Third-party cookies

We may use a limited number of trusted third-party services (such as an analytics provider) that set their own cookies. These providers are bound by their own privacy policies and are not permitted to use your data for purposes other than providing services to HOJO.

Cookies fall into two duration categories:

• Session cookies — exist only for the duration of your browser session and are deleted when you close your browser. We use these for login state and security.
• Persistent cookies — remain on your device for a set period or until you delete them. We use these for preference storage (theme, filters). Our persistent cookies expire after a maximum of 12 months.

All modern browsers allow you to view, block, or delete cookies through their settings. Note that blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent core features (such as login) from working.

Do Not Track

Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” (DNT) signal. We respect DNT signals by disabling non-essential analytics cookies when a DNT signal is detected.

Opting out of analytics

To opt out of analytics tracking entirely, you can contact us at hojo@csu.qc.ca and we will note your preference in our system.

We may update this Cookies Policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology, regulation, or our practices. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will always reflect when it was last revised.

We encourage you to check this page periodically. For significant changes, we will notify registered users via email or an in-platform notice.
